2025 Word of the Year

I began choosing a word of the year back in 2015 (with a few missed in between). I find it’s a simple reminder to check in with myself, stay grounded in my values, and course correct throughout the year.

Previous words-of-the-year:

2015 Balance

2016 [??]

2017 Love

2018 Empower

2019 Growth

2020 Bold

2021 Soar

2022 [  ]

2023… Simplify

Reflecting on 2024’s word, I realize many of the decisions, projects, and connections I made this year were guided by a keen sense of alignment. This makes me happy!

Alignment shows up in my body as a sense of ease (not necessarily easy or free of stress) and aliveness. (In contrast, misalignment brings a slight contraction.) The more I practice, the easier it becomes to recognize and heed.

In the past, I have made some missteps—making choices not in alignment, but, rather, out of FOMO, rationalization, or dismissal. Thankfully not catastrophic, those choices did manage to send me a bit off-course.

Therefore, I will absolutely be carrying alignment along with me into 2025.

And now, for 2025’s word of the year:

Amplify

Dictionary definition: To make larger, greater, or stronger; enlarge; extend. To expand in stating or describing, as by details or illustrations; clarifying by expanding.

My definition—focusing on, deepening, and magnifying the good stuff.

In my work this looks like: Supporting more women, expanding the perimenopause conversation, widely sharing evidence-based information, speaking to larger audiences.

In my personal life: Making new friends. Nurturing existing ones. Exploring interesting collaborations. Seeking out fun, adventure, humor, and levity.

Align and Amplify. Sounds about right to me. Happy New Year!
